I probably should have asked these questions prior to buying one, but, one just arrived yesterday and it will still be helpful to get some user input. So, I just bought the subject amp and the matchi

Mike, I have had my ALS-500 mobile for about 3.5 years, driving it with an FT-100D at about 50 watts drive SSB and CW. Basically it has served me well and has never shown a heat problem. I have never

The glaring defect of this amplifier is that it runs on 12v and my understanding is that IMD is thus highly sensitive to supply voltage, i.e. a fraction of a volt change can improve the IMD from real

A true statement... But to be precisely correct on the designed DC voltage input regarding the ALS-500 the manual for it states it: "... will produce the rated output power at 14 volts dc. The output

Al - Interesting comment. It will be easy enough to measure the two tone IMD as a function of voltage. I assume the higher order ones will not matter as they should be pretty far down, but, possibly
