OK, time for more info. After removing all of the tubes, meter readings are OK. Putting one (I assume good) tube back in the amp causes the strangeness to begin again. Any ideas? 73, Scott, N9AA ____

When the amp has a typical grid and plate current metering system in the B- return lead: 1.) Any short from the filament or cathode to ground causes the grid meter to read backwards. Always backward

OK, I have taken all the tubes out of the AL-572 and put only 1 in at a time and turned the amp on each time, with the same results: a slight negative pulling of the grid current meter and then a slo
