Looking through Bill Orr's handbook, I found a table that gives the 3rd order IMD for 6146's in AB1 as about -24/25 db. If that's the case, how can your signal be any cleaner than that as long as the

The KWM2 uses negative feedback so that the output of the transmitter is cleaner than the 6146 tubes. Collins is excellent in using negative feedback to clean up the signals - which is why the Collin

As much as I believe Hallicrafters and Johnson are well designed transmitters, I don't believe they use NFB in their finals. The equipment at my QTH is exclusively boat anchor. David KC2JD --Original
