Ive lost a chip on the timer board of my AL-1500. This causes the HV to hit the 8877 on power-up. If I wait 3-4 minutes before applying drive am I safe? Or, does the quick advent of HV hurt the tube

yes, as long as no cathode current flows during warm up. The main danger to the 8877 in the AL-1500 is the absence of any vhf parasite suppressor in the anode circuit. - later, Larry Rich... R. L. M
