The reported instance instance of one G2DAF amplifier with a -22 db 3rd order distortion is within 10% of the published specifications of the 4CX250B tube using a closely regulated screen voltage. Ca

of distortion How is -22 dB (1/160) within 10% of -25 dB (1/320) ? Surely it is twice as bad ? Besides, it is not the 3rd order product that matters so much, it is the 5th,7th,9th,11th...... -- FAQ

It's nonsense to build a whole argument on the claim that the IMD of a certain tube "is" any particular value. It all depends on the DC/RF operating conditions. Under other conditions, the IMD can be

Multiply that by 4x because I measured total feculence of the DAFs with respect to pep. Make no mistake about it, s7 to s9 splatter is a serious matter. cheers - Rich..., 805.386.3734, www.vcnet.com

Examining the cited test results was not intended to prove that the G2DAF circuit was a good circuit or that the stated Eimac specifications could not be improved. It was merely intended to question

The second test with an 813 was somewhat discounted because I have no specs from anyone on what the distortion products are when grid driven with a regulated screen. Suppose they are -18 db 3rd order

? The 813 is not linear in grid-driven service. For linear service, G-G is the only game in town. ? indeed. ? You seem to have missed the point that the -22db measurement was relative to Peak Envelo

You've hit it exactly with that last sentence. When you tune away from the signal, you want it to be gone completely. This means that higherorder IMD is more important in many ways than 3rd-order. 3r
