yes the Henrys used resonant choke filters. This helps explain it: http://www.qsl.net/i0jx/supply.html There was a nice article in QST in June 1946 about how to get the inductance of a "mystery" chok

That's a lot of inductance for a power supply filter choke. The current rating for such a choke may be very low. How much does it weigh? a 30H 500 ma reactor should weigh in the neighborhood of 30 to

That's a pi wound choke (I'd like to know why it is called that). I usually see them in older ham AM rigs where the B+ is 1.5 KV or less and the Ip is no more than a few hundred ma. I am not saying i

you can test your chokes yourself. Get a modern solid state ham rig and fix it so it puts out around 20 watts cw. dump the RF into a 50 ohm resistor and put a T in the line. Connect the stem of the T

I was quick to credit W8JI in a subsequent post--I certainly do not want to be seen as stealing ideas, but for some reason anything I post to this reflector seems to be delayed by 24 hours or longer.

I'd say if you have to put a fan on the plate iron you need bigger plate iron. If the bigger plate iron won't fit in the nice pretty amp, it needs to be un-prettied. rob K5UJ ________________________
