- well, it's the 100' run back to the breaker that has me cautious, not the cord on the heater... but it does ok at 900W. 1500W would be better in terms of heating up quicker but I just add another 10

- umph - well if the typical off-the-shelf AL-80B sits idle at 2900v to the plate (I do not know if this is its normal operating voltage), 1600w input would seem to be a lot of plate current for 1 tube

- The photos i've seen of AL-80Bs have Amperex tubes - I thought Amperex built their tubes using graphite plates that get "sick" with that kind of use. Something about graphite poisoning or deformation
