Hello all I have a problem with the above combination. Sometimes the Acom indicates * HOT SWITCHING *. It happens on perhaps 25% of the occasions when I hit the ptt. Any ideas please ? Thanks John G4

Richard I don't know - that sort of useful information is not in the user manual Hi. But I've just noticed the VOX switch is "in". That may well explain why the problem only sometimes happened (perha

Hi all I'm considering purchasing a UHF s/state amplifier from TE Systems. We have one importer in the UK, and he has quoted me quite a long delivery time. It occurs to me anyway that I may be able t

Hugh I think you are entirely correct. When I bought a Commander amplifier a few years ago, the first thing I had to do was to replace that chain of resistors. Good luck ! John G4ZTR Is there a known

A while ago I used a modest 12v power supply with a "small generator". It buzzed and hummed a bit which got me thinking and eventually I put a 'scope on the generator output. Any resemblance to a sin

Andy Have you looked at what's on offer from Diode Comms ? I'm afraid I know nothing about them, good or bad. If you can find one second-hand, my h/b 2m amplifier uses a transformer from GHP (Gordon

Patrick I had a Commander II. I thought the HT voltage was low, but the problem was the voltage divider resistors had changed their value over time, and so the front panel meter was quite inaccurate.

Same problem here with the meter resistors. John G4ZTR Doug, I have an early model Commander amp with a similar HV problem. Turns out they used a type of 1 Meg metering resistors that ages. Over time

That sounds like a lot of bias current. I have two commercial amps each with a single tube. They recommend bias at around 100mA and the plate voltage is around 3600. Regards John G4ZTR I have a GS-35
