Richard, I would think the inrush protection as on your site would no doubt be good regardless just to calm everything down a little when the amp is switched on.. Even though the 811H HV is at 1700 v

well thanks to everyone's help I think I have it fixed.. well not fixed but at least found the problem. I replaced the 51 ohm resistor a second time. this time at the advice of a local buddy he said

oh ok.. the newer ones have the parasitic board now on top of the tubes... As far as inrush I have read that for 1800 volts not needed but I have one coming anyway <g> Seems like one guy said on this
