I just bought an AL-80A amplifier from an estate. The amp appears to be OK and working, but certainly in need of a little bit of TLC. I found the cover on backwards and only eight of the thirteen scr

I used my AL-80A during the recent NA Sprint. I found that when I went to 80m, it was difficult to tune to more than 300 watts without exceeding 150 ma of grid current. After a few minutes, I also he

I'll check this. Mr. Measures suggested reversing the coil wires -- I'm not sure what good that would do, unless the relay frame has become permanently magnetized.... Some one else warned me that I m

I resolved the "spitting" problem. After carefully tuning up the amp for 80m, using as little loading C as possible to get the maximum output, there was no spitting into the dummy load. Then I switch

"Very soon" is right now. Apple introduced the original iMac in 1998, and it had no RS-232 ports. That got the USB ball rolling, since the only way to add peripherals was through USB. Apple hasn't ma

Certainly not true. If anything, the 220 wiring can be smaller. Although, these days, I doubt anyone is seeing 220, more like 240. However, with 110, the I^2R losses in the wiring are quadrupled. 220
