- This appears to be a Class C variation of a Messenger. I say Class C because there isn't the usual wirewound resistor and clamping diode evident in the picture. The rest of it is all Messenger design

- There were many good suggestions. I ended up with a homemade goop made from Graphite powder and a general purpose household lubricant. It seems to have done the trick, and the amplifier is much easie
