After several months of reading the great info that I was finding on the
reflector, I finally thought I found a group where no one was going to
argue with each other. And then I open the archive this morning to
Ten-Tec Owners who hate Yaesu, and people argueing, not to mention an
e-mail from a Ten-Tec ham who said because of bug that I discovered in
my FT-900CAT, that I should've gone with a Omni VI Plus, because my 900
is a peice of *&*^. I did not come to this archive to get blasted about
my choice of equipment, if I did, I would have gone to the news groups.
I came here to find out if anyone was experiencing the same problem as
I.
Look, Ten-Tec makes a fine radio. Yes it does have bugs, but Ten-Tec
does seem to be trying to take care of it. My 900 has its share of bugs
also. As we have discovered with the Icom IC-756, just read the QST
review. As with the Kenwood radios. No radio is perfect. And someone who
choses a Ten-Tec (Which by the way, in my opinion has the best CW wave
form and TRX switching @ full break-in, when you can actually hear
between the dots at 40 wpm then any other radio on the market.) Omni
over a Yaesu 1000MP or a Kenwood TS-570D or IC-756, that is their
choice. No one makes a bad radio these days. Lets put the differnces
behind us.
If the person who sent me the nasty e-mail on my 900CAT wants to e-mail
me and tell me why I should have gone with an Omni VI Plus, please by
all means, go ahead and write me, and I will tell him why I decided to
go with a 900, and one of those reasons has to do with the fact that
Ten-Tec does not make a general covereage reciever, and I did not want
to get a HF-Tranciever and then add on top of it another Reciever. I
just wanted one box.
So lets keep the fighting off of the reflector, we are all adults, and
we should behave like them. I left a flight simulator forum for the
exact same reason that I am seeing here. Lets make this an isolated
difference.
