Wayne,
Service history; I bought mine it 93 just back from Yaesu. Its been
great!
User impressions; I've worked the world on it and I think it hears just
as well as my as my 1000D,
almost.
Typical price $1,100 bare to 14 or 15,00 loaded.
Availability; I saw one at a hamfest last month, $1,100.
Quirks; The clarifier does not remember where you set it at, if your
talking to 2 other people and one of them is off freq.
and set the clarifier and then turn it off, and
back on it resets it self to 000. ( but how often do you need it?)
No selectiable filter for 2.0 SSB.( International Radio in
Fl makes one you can buy.
Features; You can add modules for 6m, 2m and 70cm (2 different ones for
70cm,430 to 440 MHz and 440 to 448MHz). All are rated
for 10 watts.
Iv e heard when the tunning encoder goes out you'll pay big bucks to fix
it. Mine has been fine. Also if you buy one make sure you put it on the
air with someone you trust to tell you how you sound, some people play
with the ALC adjustment inside to get more power out of it and it will
sound like sh_t on the air. Don't ever let anyone talk you in to trying
to get more power out of it (100watts is just fine).
In closing I sure do like mine.........
73, Bill
