Didn't near much difference... .2Khz isn't much difference.
Are you wanting to here narrow band SSB or fuller bodied audio. I run
my 857 mobile and for my ears the wider audio with more lows is much
easier to copy in the mobile. What I'd like to have is better skirt
selectivity to reduce adjacent channel interference. Cascaded filters
will provide that but no one is making a cascaded filter set for the
857.

WA6FGI ASKED.....
Okay, a time worn question to the group.
Amd going to buy a filter to install in the 857
for ssb
everyday use, but which one?
The 2.3 khz add-on Yaesu filter?
Or one of the Inrad filters ssb, 2.3 or 2.1khz.
I did not notice that much difference between
the stock ceramic filter and the w4rt 2.3 filter
so I would try the inrad 2.1 .. I have the FT
897 whitch is the same as the 857 ( the 897
lets you select ceramic- 2.3 or 500 ) in my
menus on front
I think the 857 does too
so my 2 cents get the 2.1 one
