I think the comparison of the 2000 to the 1000 with mods is an
oversimplification. I understand the 2000 is basically a 9000 Contest
without some of the frills and in a smaller, lighter weight chassis. If
this is true, it will be quite an improvement over the 1000.

hmmm... well I hope this is not true. I was hoping it would not be noise
limited in testing (as I believe the 1K series was) as well as not have the
issue in the AGC noted by K8RI. Among other things.
And of course with the (EXPENSIVE) DMU you get much more useful data....
