The Hotsync application may be grabbing the COM port when WinXP boots and
you log in. That prevents WL from using it.
You will have to make sure that the Hotsync app does not start when the
system boots or when you log in. This takes some
fidgeting with the system configuration that is more complicated than can be
covered in a quick note.

Subject: [WriteLog] win xp and com port
I upgraded to new XP machine. I installed a full 10.45 version and com 1
was working controlling my FT1000MP. Now I've lost Com1, port won't
open. I know the port works as I tried my Palm pilot on hotsync. Same
story with the .46G upgrade.
Any ideas on what I am missing?
Thanks,
Mike
