Hi all,

Thank you for all the nice comments and suggestions
for the log dups problem.

Let me define dups here as guess some confusion.
To me a duplicate qso is one that has all the
items of the qso the same.
I.E. Date, Time, Freq, Call
(I realize that dup also is the same call on the same
band but at different times)

Again here was the problem:
Log A Contains both networked calls and standalone calls
Log B Contains both networked calls and standalone calls
How do you combine to get all the calls and no
dups from when the logs were networked.
Have not tried in Writelog to network and was wondering
if the same would happen. Got answer that it should not.
Networked logs were in CT.

I tried the CT Merge program and had to go to the
old computer to get DOS. I merged the two logs
and took out the dups but also took out the qsos'
that were in the second log that were made when the
network was disconnected. Couldn't figure out how
to get those.

Tried to import into the logging program but also
got dups. This is because somewhere in the log
system there must be a tag or something that made
the dups different.

Finally what I did was combine all the logs
into my log program (VE6YP YPLog) that included
the dups.
Exported to comma delimited.
I have Lotus Approach here and imported in that.
Looked at the Worksheet and sure enough the dups
are there.
In Approach there is a utility called "Find Assistant"
and in that utility is a subprogram called "Find Duplicate Records".
Went in there and is a window that you can define which
fields to search for dups. Entered Date, Time, Call and
sure enough it found all the dups. (Also has a option to
leave on of the dups in the worksheet)
Saved as delimited file and then imported as a new log
entry into YPlog. (After converting)
Then saved as ADIF out of the log program.
Sent to the Webmaster and now we have the log up and running at:
http://www.wb8xx.com/sable/

NOTE: I have all the original logs and backed up in case of
any questions or problems.

I hope this wasn't out of range for this reflector and
since Writelog was involved here and may be of help
to someone else if this problem comes up again. I am now
trying to get together here with a couple of others and
network to do testing on what happened above. Will
report any results that I get.

Was a real learning experience for me as am not a
computer software/spreadsheet guru. I think it was
a great learning challenge and this is part
of what the ham radio adventure is all about.

Now to the next adventure!!!

Tnx agn all,
73 Phil W9IXX
