Steve,
I went to test it all out and in the process replaced writelog.ini file
from v 11.17 with the one from 2013 ARRL DX contest -- which used
v10.something .
For reasons I can't figure out, the current version of WL didn't take
most (90%) of the parameters from that older configuration file. As a
result, I would have had to set everything up once again, a real mess.
And, too, I haven't any idea what the polling rate is! I was planning
on running it at different time intervals to see what would happen, if
anything.
Sol, if you or anyone can help, I'd appreciate advicvcve o n how to get
the old config file to work. It's in the "new" place, as per K9JY's note:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\WriteLog.ini
he does mention that it also shows up in the C:\windows directory, but
it does not appear that the file in that location is use.

If you've seen Joe's email, he said (and I highlighted) :
Polling rate is strictly a function of the application - the microHAM interface
forwards the application polls and commands as they are received.
* I don't have access to an Orion to confirm but placing Writelog on the
simulator and checking its polling rate with Orion selected indicates
WriteLog polls the Orion at 100 ms intervals.* BTW, N1MM Logger shows the same
polling rate.
You said
"In the writelog.ini file, under the [configuration] section, you can set
RigPollInterval=300
or any other number... where this number represents the polling interval in
milliseconds.
*The manual states that the default value is 500 milliseconds.*
It would appear that the manual is incorrect, at least with regards the
version Joe tested.

I've had a problem with Writelog jumping around in its frequency display even
if the radio hasn't changed frequency or is receiving, It is NOT an RFI. issue.
It turns out that the Orion needs hardware handshaking and a polling interval
of no less than 200 ms..
My question... can these parameters be set in Writelog? If so, how?

Unless Joe has the polling rate set to something other than the default in
his ini file. He makes no mention of the polling rate being used in his ini
file.
