Hi Charlie,
When running SO2R, I found if I were running strings
on Radio R and then sent my call on Radio L, a QSO
number was assigned to the radio L's QSO box (where
you type in the received information). This QSO number
is then reserved for Radio L and Radio R gets the next
number.
If you either don't work the guy on Radio L and give
up OR the difference between radio R and L's serial
numbers gets too high (about 3-4) then Writelog will
'retire' Radio L's QSO number - it doesn't get used,
and Radio L's QSO number will start to update (if you
leave a callsign in the call field of Radio L's entry
box).
This happened to me in CW SS and it was confusing as
hell at first... but there is no harm done, the QSO #
isn't sent, just retired. When you make your final
file, it throws those out. I ended up with final
Seriall Number of 1130 but only 1109 QSOs, just a few
of those were dupes.
Look for 'missing' serial numbers in your final output
file, you'll find 'em.
