I too used WriteLog for the first time this weekend
after installing it Friday morning. Bit of a
challenge leaping up the learning curve, but this
software is really amazing! And didn't find the mouse
cluttering up the op position like I was afraid of. I
did obtain a very narrow keyboard (12 in) to keep my
right hand closer to the tuning knob and paddle.
I managed a quick read through the entire help file
before the contest. Now I still have a few questions
I would appreciate help with or comments to offer up:
1. Is there a way to delete an entire line (current
entry) with one keystroke, with the cursor either in
the Call or Number field? Ctrl-W takes out the
current field but how about both at once?
2. Is there a single keystroke to go from Number
field to Call field? Spacebar takes you from Call to
Number, but how about vice versa? (I found myself
doing 3 tabs, and wondering why not have spacebar go
back and forth between the two fields?)
3. Is there an overtype mode so in run mode I fill in
the Call as I hear it and then can quickly either type
over it if I got it wrong the first time or hit
spacebar to get over to Number? (This would save
typing in the corrected letters and then having to hit
the same number of delete keystrokes to purge the
wrong letters before toggling over to Number.)
4. Is there a way to quickly perform a callsign check
on just previous qos's this contest, rather than the
whole supercheck database?
5. In S&P, I often wanted to delete the current call
(a dupe)and add it to the band map in one operation.
I used "alt-y alt-a ctrl-w" - is there a
quicker/simpler way to do this?
6. I wish there was a memory to autosave the previous
vfo setting to go back to after double clicking a band
map entry.
7. How about adding a vertical scroll bar to the band
map window? I found myself having to change VFO freq
just to scroll through the band map.
Thanks for the read, and again let me say that I found
this software AMAZING! Viva les Windows!
Tnx & 73,
Barry N1EU
