Recording questionAssuming you are using the current release of =
writelog:
Click on
TOOLS
then SOUNDBOARD OPTIONS
then down at the bottom
Select WAVE File compression.
then go UP to MPEG Layer 3
try
18 KBits 11025 Hz Stereo 2 Kbits (per second I think..or minute?? =
whatever)
If that option isnt there, you are pretty far behind on the current =
version.
There should be a LOT of recording formats. =20
Perhaps they are a part of Windows, or you have to update your
CODEC ..but they were there when I looked for them.
What version of Windows are you running?

I would not try to record and log on the same computer, unless it was =
very fast.
I network several windows computers and record and link to packet on =
one, and log and hook to the
rigs on another..3rd one will be for backup...=20

Subject: [WriteLog] Recording question
I am planning to record the WW SSB contest using Writelog and I have =
been searching the archives for tips.=20
Some people (W2UP, K3WW) have mentioned using MPEG level 3 which could =
record the entire contest in under 400MB. This has the added benefit of =
fitting on a CD for more permanent archive. However, I do not have an =
MPEG choice under Writelog for compression options. Is this a function =
of Writelog or the sound card I am using?
Assuming that I cannot use MPEG, what other settings have other people =
used successfully that could fit in 800MB. This is about 4KB/sec
I have tried a few and one of the Microsoft ADPCM options sounded best =
for 4KB/Sec. I suppose another option is to record it with high quality =
and try to compress it afterwards with software but I suspect that will =
be a long job.
Thanks for your help,=20
