Hello everybody,
this week in the SARTG I tested some setup for our upcoming HO1A trip.
I was using my PTC2e (wich is a very excellent RTTY gear with DSP etc)
and compare it a bit with the Writelog/MMTTY plugin
MMTTY was installed on a second computer (Toshiba notebook 500 Mhz)
and both PTC and MMTTY had the same audio sorce from the radio. One
the radio site i used my smallest bandwich (250hz).
The first qsos was on 10 and 15m, and both devices decode nearly equal.
Only on very week signals I found that the PTC decode better than =
MMTTY.
I did not use the squelch. I tested all preset features from MMTTY and =
did
not find a different in decoding.
Later I swiched to 20m and found rreally a surprise. A few week and =
fluttery
JA and W6/7 signals I could not decode very well on my PTC, but very =
clear
on MMTTY with the "multipath" feature. This I could see nearly on every =
very
weak fluttery signal. So this is a very intersting observe.=20
Had not much time to force the test over the night hours, but the first =
result
looks very interesting and bring some good ideas for future =
stationsetup, hi..
The only bad thing, you need a faster computer for this combination.
While WL and PTC2 running perfect on a Pentium 1 166, MMTTY and
WL needs more "PC Power". But than it is a perfect choise for RTTY con-
testing.
