The more I think about it, a Steve Powlishen New Year's Eve party on 222
MHz sounds like a great idea. Steve used to hang out on 2 meters on
Christmas Eve and that turned into a radio party, with lots of people
showing up and just chatting and having fun. We can sure do the same on
222 MHz. A factor for the success of the evening will have to be the
presence of WZ1V and K1PXE. They are centrally located and both are well
suited for the task. I even have a few K1FO jokes.Unfortunately none of
them are suitable for prime time. Anyway, it would be fun to have a New
Year's party on 222.100. I am looking forward to it. Remember folks,
all the cool kids are on 222.

I sure hope I can make it as weather has a big influence on whether I
can get to my shack. But there has not been a New Year's Eve VHF party
since Steve's passing in 2012.

Dave,
I am in agreement with you and the committee on your decision. I am however,
disappointed that I will not be able to provide everyone with the gift of
working me on Christmas Eve.
Hope to work all on New Year's Eve.

Subject: [222Activity] 222 MHz Activity Night
So Tuesday is Christmas eve. Beating the band for QSOs does not seem like a
good way to spend Christmas eve, when we could be more involved tucking grand
kids to bed and then helping to assemble all of Santa's put together toy gifts
in time for dumping them under the tree! I checked with the 222 MHz Activity
Committee and they concur. Christmas eve is a special time for family and
little ones. I am getting a few inches of snow on Tuesday and the temps are
moderating a bit. It has been brutally cold down to close to zero here, and I
am not even in a valley with radiational cooling. It looks like next Tuesday
is New Years eve, but what better time to be on 222 than the approach of a new
year. In the tradition of Steve, K1FO, I am planning to be active on the
222 MHz New Years Eve party next Tuesday. I will have some nice egg-nog
prepared and am hoping I can make it up to the shack. CU then!
