You guys otta try it from EM99GK. That's below I-70, and here
the hills break the tropo and it seems like I'm always at the midpoint
of any Eskip events. If you go North of I-70 where the big glacier
plowed the land flat things are very different. Thus there is little VHF
activity save for "2Meter CB" here in EM99. Ops just don't make
a lot of contacts and give up.
Geography plays a big role in VHF contesting. We can't change that.
It is good that the contest sponsors report scores by various regions.
That allows one to compare scores on a more level field.
One thing that has really helped is the resurgence of CW activity.
The 50.08 to 50.1 range was just full of good CW signals this past
weekend. Also on 2M considerable CW. CW is nice, and is a real
human to human mode...but difficult to learn I'll admit. Many of the
CW signals on 6M came from old guys like me.
