To anyone interested, I've given a presentation on the IC-905 to a couple
of conferences in the past, it's available on the Directive Systems website
under the tech notes section. I included my 33cm and 9cm add on box which
consists of SG-LABs 902 and 3400 transverters using a 2m I.F. for 902 and a
70cm I.F. for 3400. Both these put out 3w, have a common I.F. input, can be
phased locked using a 10 MHz reference and use RF sensing for PTT. I use a
Diamond MX2000 triplexer on the combined output of the IC-905 which gives a
2m, 70cm and a 23cm output. So with this, the 905 covers 902 - 10GHz !!
Still waiting to hear about the 24 GHz unit that has been rumored.

I also get asked quite often when people purchase dual band feeds on what
cables to use. As I was setting up my system, I tried some short pieces of
LMR400 look alike from Advanced Digital. I installed crimp/solder male SMA
connectors to two, 4ft lengths. I calibrated my power meter to my signal
generator for exactly +10dBm and then inserted the cables in between. To my
surprize the 48 inch length had just under .4 dB of loss at 5760 and just
at 1.25 dB loss at 10 GHz. Comparing to just about all other cables I've
tested this is extremely good. UT-141, RG400, RG142, RG402 all have higher
loss. I also found the amount of torque placed on the connectors when
tightening makes a significant difference, using an SMA torque wrench gave
very repeatable results.

Hope this helps everyone
