Following the sage advice of Paul and others, I sat down and wrote a
brief letter to my ARRL Division Director (Greg Sarratt, W4OZK who is
active on VHF), my Vice-Division Director, Section Manager, and
VUAC rep.
In that e-mail, I outlined my concerns about declining participation in
the January, September, and August contests--and my larger concern about
the decline of traditional rovers.
I repeated my desire to have the ARRL promote the VHF-UHF Century Club
Award, and to consider creation of a Five Band VUCC Award to inspire
others to pursue the
award on multiple bands.
My desire is that the state of VHF UHF Contesting and operation be added
to the agenda during the July meeting.
Even if you think the rules are fine as is, you should make time to
write your representatives and let them know your feelings. Make time to
do it today.
