FWIW, at my home I have a stacked pair of loops from
https://www.freqtester.com/_mgxroot/page_10761.html in addition to my yagi.
They are on a sidearm from my tower.

2M and UHF yagis are too directional for contest use, but the loop stack is
useful to hear if others might be present in directions other than a yagi.
Beats the side and back of a yagi by 10-15 dB. (I prefer to find my own fish in
contests, not arranged marriages-hi)

This forum does not take HTML or attachments so e-mail me if you want pics or
an EZNEC plot comparing them.

Chet, N8RA

I am interested. But, I do not know if I have enough room for one. How big
would a 222 Big Wheel be?

Sent from my GalaxyGood afternoon all- I am trying to gauge interest in
purchasing a 222MHz Big Wheel antenna. Wimo antennas in Germany makes Big
Wheel horizontal omnis for 2 mtrs and 432MHz.
https://www.wimo.com/en/big-wheel-wimo-omni-antenna ; DX Engineering sells
them in the U.S. Unlike a loop. they have some gain over a dipole. There are
YouTube videos describing construction of, and operation with 2 mtr. Big Wheel
in U.K. Wimo would make a wheel for 222 MHz if there is sufficient
interest, i.e. firm commitment for at least 40 antennas. Price is about the
same as their 2 meter Wheel, 120 - 150 euro. I can tell you from experience
they are well made and can survive at least 60 mph driving without damage. If
there is sufficient interest I will try to coordinate a group purchase. Please
tell me if you have any interest in a 222 Big Wheel.73, Chris Patterson W3CMP
