Yes that is very true and I began to realized this too today with all the
talk of shunt fed towers. When the weather gets a little less windy and
warmer, Ill break the guys up with insulators and put a spark gap there
instead of having them a solid length of cable. Everything else on the tower
is PhillyStran except for those two guys. Ill be content for now with the
sloper as is until I can get those guy broken up and retry 160 meter tuning
again.

Hi Stephanie -- I was just looking at your web site (nice job, by the way)
and had one of those "Eureka" moments. In describing your guying
arrangements, you say that you have a set of guys at the 30-foot level that
are connected electrically to the tower and to ground, for lightning energy
absorption purposes.
This is probably the biggest reason why your half-sloper won't work. As
N4KG said, the tower is most of the radiating structure in these antennas,
and you have a ground situated half-way up. At a minimum, this will make
the radiating part of the tower appear much shorter electrically than it
would otherwise, and who knows what else?
