Dave,
Another good tool is TLD since it performs most of the same TLW functions,
but also shows a Smith Chart representation. By changing load values and
line length -- and seeing both numeric and Smith results, it's a really
great learning tool. For most computations, I use TLD. When I want to
design an L, Pi, or T network, then TLW has an advantage.

Using a Smith Chart is an educational process, but for practicality it
seems to me that using TLW (the free application that comes with the ARRL
Antenna Book) is a simpler solution. It is almost trivial to use.

Bob,

Its but just one site and you can also find many sites by using Google as
well.
Been using the SC from the early '60s, but today its all on the PC and uW
instrumentation.
GL and its not as intimidating as you currently feel.
Its rather simple if you had the right person to work with you and show
you
the in's and out's.
