The best you can use for guying is a diamond braided polyester rope. Low
stretch, low UV degradation and reasonably priced. I've used it many times
and it works great. Good luck!

Derek--
Poly, as in polypropylene rope, available everywhere, suffers severe UV
degradation in a very short time period. I REALLY don't like
polypropylene! Don't waste your money.
Nylon is VERY stretchy and is not a good choice for that reason.
Polyethylene terephthalate (another POLY) is much better as a rope and is
the basis for the braid over braid style of rope from Synthetic Textiles
Inc.

Dacron is a trade name Polyethylene terephthalate and another great rope is
the Samson Stable Braid ropes -- used for rigging and on yachts. But it is
somewhat expensive.

In any case what you want is a woven braid and not a twisted (lay) rope
which stretches and tries to unwind under load.
