I have been told that Amphenol quit making silver plated connectors several
years ago. I hope this is incorrect, however any new UHF barrel and bullet
and males I have seen from them lately have been nickel plated. I don't
like the nickel plated stuff so I have been buying silver males and used
bullets at flea markets and other silver adapters from various RF supply
vendors on the internet. Nickel plating aside, the Amphenol construction is
still good. On their bullets, the center contact tines are made to make
good contact and they have multiple cuts. I suppose since you don't have to
solder to it, an amphenol nickel plated barrel, bullet or series change
adapter is okay. The ones that sell for a buck or two each at hamfests that
have only two or four cuts and tines that bend apart are the junk to avoid.
The two and four cut UHF jacks can be pretty annoying. 73, rob / k5uj _________________________________________________________________ Check out all that glitters with the MSN Entertainment Guide to the Academy Awards® http://movies.msn.com/movies/oscars2007/?icid=ncoscartagline2 _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk |
