I see this antenna is advertised as usable without an antenna tuner. I have
seen these used by a couple of guys and ALL needed a tuner. Not sure if the
one in your radio could handle it...hard to say. But this is the link
posted by one store of the antenna. Looks like the counterpoise beneath it
is connected at both ends to ground rods. At any rate, good luck with it.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Barker & Williamson Model AC - 1.8 - 30 Antenna
I recently installed a Barker & Williamson Model AC - 1.8 - 30 Antenna. I
installed it as a sloper following the manufacturers instructions. The top
of the sloper is mounted on a tower at 50 ft. The opposite end of the
antenna is attached to a post 9 feet above the ground. At this location, the
antenna is grounded with the counterpoise. The other end of the counterpoise
is not grounded at the opposite end ( at the tower).
PROBLEM: I can not get anywhere near a descent VSWR using a IC-756 Pro III.
Please get me some suggestions to solving this problem.
I have photos if desired.
Thanks to the TowerTalk users for their help!
