Greeting All,
It has been several years since I posted on this board. At that time I was
working for ROHN as an Engineer and hopefully I helped some of you with your
ROHN questions. Because of ROHN's BK I have moved on and I am working for
another
consulting engineering firm. So much for the update.
While at ROHN I was always concerned about the anchor rods and in 2001 I saw
the remains of a 27 year old 300+ tower that had collapsed at Morton, IL
because of corroded anchor rod.
I have since gone on a technology quest to find a method to nondestructively
inspect the anchor rods without digging them up. I HAVE found it. I am
currently doing a business plan and trying to assess the market and request
your help
in a series of discussion questions.
Question 1, Part A: Do you know of any towers that have collapsed because of
corroded anchors?
Part B: Was there property damage to others?
Part C: Was anyone injured or killed?
Currently, there is not a single source for this information and any help
will help. I do know about the Sioux Falls Tower incident where workers were
injured riding the tower down.
Thanks,
Mark Johnson, P.E.
