I have a Rotating Tower System (RTS) rotating 55g tower.
The prop pitch seized up. I'm trying to determine if the prop pitch
gave up the ghost or something on the tower seized which caused the prop
pitch to fail.
I took the drive chain off and I was able to turn the tower by using a
pipe stuck in between the tower legs for leverage. It did turn but it
took some good force to turn it. I'm not sure if this is normal or if I
should be able to turn it by hand. There is a good amount of weight on
the main bearing; 13 sections of 55g, several JK yagi's and the downward
force due to the guy system.
If I have to replace the base bearing, are the jack bolts ( 3 of them
in-line with the tower legs) strong to keep the tower in place so the
bearing could be removed and replaced? The jack bolts are 3/4" diameter
all thread.
Thanks
