Been there done that. You better be ready to get covered in mud/dirty water head to toe. Wear goggles or glasses. Not for cold weather unless you have really good foul weather garb.

How about a pressure/power washer? Use the "jet" adjustment. Point nozzle at
the ground/grass to create a slot. Insert radial. Walk across slot. Done.

Herb,

Since it does not sound like you are working in a beautifully landscaped
backyard, unless you are into S&M, I am not sure why you want to bury them?
Sign on to Amazon.com and type in:

Easy Gardener Fabric & Garden Staples Commercial Grade Attaches Landscape
Fabric and Turf to Soil (6 inches x 1 inch) Reusable Garden Staple, 1000
Pack

Buy a couple of boxes of these ($60 a box), and you should be set.
Assuming you are laying out 135 ft long radials, and staking them every 8
to 10 ft or so, that should give you enough to stake 120 radials (YMMV -
Your Mileage May Vary); figure on 39 radials per mile of wire for 160 M.
Also, you don't really need 8 or 6 gauge wire; I think most of my radials
are 18 or above (whatever I was able to find on spools at one of the
recycle yards that sold wire by the pound).

I did this for my 2 element 160 phased array, and my 4 sq 80 meter array.
After a year or so, the grass, weeds, or whatever happens to grow out there
will cover them up. I installed my antenna several years ago, and I can't
find the majority of them, unfortunately though, my riding mower seems to
"find" two or three every year, and I have to solder them back together.

You can buy an electric edger that will dig a small shallow line in the

All winter I have been clearing out a large area to put radials down for
a 160 meter antennaI built an antenna which looks like a T between two 90
foot towersThe vertical leg is 65 feet and the horizontal is the same.
I used it with only a few radials and was pleased with contacts to the
west coast from Pa.So here is my questionWhat type of tool can I use to
bury the radials an inch or so.My problem is there are quite a few surface
rocks that I will have to deal with.Does Home Depot or Lowe's have
something ?I was even just thinking about using a pic and draging it
backwards
Preferable no motors due to the rocksThanksHerb K2LNS
