Amen.. a choke on a strap broke, it happens all the time, not supposed to, but did happen. On work being done on a big commercial tower that most hams only dream of having ....Now we can take the conversation to the ham bands which need a lot activity and we can beat the horse to death there....the tower company, the workers, the crane company how everything  went wrong...then we will do complete report all based on a Youtube video to the insurance company and end of story.

Which seems to me that the sections did not separate as expected and the
crane tried to lift the entire tower, including the lower anchored and
guyed sections, and failed. Whether they missed removing a bolt or the
sections were jammed, either way, they did not separate until the crane
failed.

If the video is advanced frame-by-frame at about 7 to 8 seconds the jib
can be seen to deflect downwards continuously until failure occurs. If
the strap broke first, the jib reaction prior to failure would have been
upwards in the opposite direction due to the instant release of bending
tension. The full counter-reaction of the boom goes off screen at about 9
seconds as the camera follows the fall of the tower section, but reappears
at 11 to 13 seconds when reverse curvature of the boom from the
counter-reaction is visible through the first boom oscillation.

Looks like the cable was not attached to the tower properly. I think
I could see the strap around the upper section break.

The video short linked below from HamRadioClubLuzerneCoPA happened to
pop up on my computer today. That installation became very
dangerous. I wonder if anyone knows the details? Hopefully there
were no injuries.
