Groups.io started charging as of October 22nd, 2019.

The existing towertalk @ groups.io was started July 21st, 2019, before they
started charging.

If that is indeed the case, then there is no charge for it, so it should not be
a factor in the discussion.
Perhaps the existing owner can confirm. I'm pretty sure he's listening.
