Several recent aviation magazines refer to recent incidents of crew
incapacitation due to ground-based lasers. One recent incident was
over Las Vegas NV, where the copilot of a commercial flight was
blinded by an advertising laser. The captain managed to land the
aeroplane.
Keep this kind of thing in mind; the FAA and the airlines may not
take kindly to high-intensity lasers emanating from your hilltop QTH!
