Thanks again for everyone's thoughts. Renting or hiring a bucket truck is
on the list of possibilities. I'm looking in to that now. One problem is
that we live in beautiful forest setting -- park-like. It may not be possible
to get a truck in between the trees. The easiest path would be right over the
ground-source heat-pump wells and underground collection system. (Which I
can't risk.) Maybe my subconscious mind will eventually come up with the
answer.
Thanks guys,
Norm

That tower may be safe to climb. But, if it is like the Rohn HDBX, you will
quickly wear out your feet on those angled flat iron braces. I would be
tempted to rent a lift bucket and do all maintenance/installation using the
bucket.

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I get the message.
The tower measures 28 inch sides at the base. The cross members are
riveted. The sections are bolted. The tower is galvanized, but shows some
rust on the top section. It is free-standing without any guys or house
bracket.
We are putting together a list of possible alternatives that don't
involve climbing to the top. Maybe an idea will come up that will allow use
of the tower.
Thanks again,
Norm
