A suggestion on the caps.  On the ones not broken, wrap with  electrical tape 
to screen them from UV.  I have also used liquid tape for  this.  Both work 
well.
 
While you're at it, you might want to do the same thing to the fiberglass  
rod on the driven element and the ones on each of the other elements  to 
protect 
the rods from UV.
