I have one of these rotators with a faulty pulse reed switch and am
curious how difficult it is to replace it. Has anyone on the list done
that? I understand the switches are available from M2. I would like to
avoid the shipping of this heavy brute.
I believe the switch is near the bottom of the unit and would
apparently require removing most of the gears. Do they come out piece by
piece or is it possible to remove them as one or several assemblies?
During a recent conversation with Wyatt he indicated they were
looking into the possibility of providing an access plate to allow
replacement of the switch. As I recall he indicated they were studying
whether the present casting could be machined for the mod or a new
casting would be needed.
I have been using 2 of the OR2800's for about 8 years. During that
time I have had 2 pulse switch failures, both during electrical storms.
