From personal experience last season.
I put up a full size 160 inverted V, 60 feet up and the ends about 10
feet off the ground. Also have a shunt fed tower. These antennas are
separated by about 300 feet. At sunset and sunrise, hands down, the
inverted V heard stations better than anything I tried, EU was sometimes
S9 + at sunset from Southcentral PA. If you listened long enough to the
signals, the inverted V would fade into the "sunset" and the beverages
would start to improve. A similar scenario happens around sunrise. After
reading Bill's comments, all makes sense to me!
