Pete,

The spool you see on the mobile vans are actually PVC tubing and the 
coax runs inside the PVC.  It gets heavy and the 58' mast now have a 
basket half way up to balance the weight...the newer vans now install 
multiple antennas and cameras up top, so the PVC tubing has several coax 
cables running inside.
