We put up a 40m delta for FD once. I didn't know anything about them or where to feed. We left the wire free to run in all the insulators. After it was up, apex in a tall pine tree, we connected the feedline, coax, and slid the feedpoint along while watching SWR on an analyzer. I came to 1/1 exactly when the feed was on the low side, I think, and quite near one of the corners. It worked fine.
