I fully agree.  I don't understand the point of swaging when an inside coupler is an extremely nice fit, leaves a uniform outside diameter, and for the same amount of strength has no additional weight.  In fact, a swaged joint is going to be weaker because of the deformation and stress on the swaged portion.

Not to mention how far simpler it is to do the inner coupler.  I just use a nail punch and a hammer to make a few dimples that lock in the coupling just fine.

You didn't give many specifics on the tubing. Swaging tools are reliably
available from industrial, HVAC, even eBay for smaller tubing. They work
great on copper however if you're trying to swage T6 or T8 aluminum, the
tubing probably will not cooperate. It is so much easier just to make a
coupler out of smaller tubing.

Can someone tell me where I can find a swaging tool if such an animule
exists. By swaging tool I am talking about a tool that will make the
inner diameter of an aluminum tube larger so the same size tube will fit
into it. Also it will make the other end smaller. What is this tool
actually called (since Google gives me nothing like what I am looking
for under that search term) and where can it be found?

Thank you.
