They make a special tool for tightening F connectors in tight spaces (remember the fun we used to have putting them on VCR's :-). It is a box wrench with a gap in it to let the cable through. Unlike ordinary box wrenches, the handle exits axially, not radially. If you soldered a nut to a PL259, then you could make a tool like this to tighten it. A half inch or 15/32 inch panel nut might work. (The nut has to be large enough to slip over the cable.) Unfortunately, you can't retrofit a nut on an existing cable without redoing one end.
