The post talks about masts but that could be a translation issue. I
would love to see pictures and a better write up of what happened so we
can all learn from this. It appears that there might have been a guy
right about that leg break.
It is a testament to all those that manage to keep stations going from
these high corrosion areas. I watched my tools rust in days down
there. I watched thick metal poles next to the beach completely eaten
after just a few years.

I could imagine that much of the corrosion was inside the legs and not
readily visible, but I had read elsewhere that the reason DL6RAI was
on the tower was for the purpose of replacing it. I don't know if
that is true or not.
