Mark did not mention it, but in Section XII (Ingredients/Identity
Information) three components are listed. See URL below.
1. Stoddard Solvent ( >50%)
2. Petroleum Base Oil (>15%)
3. LPG [Liquefied Petroleum Gas) (25%) *** presumably the propellant
I am surmising that components 1 and 2 are together 75% of the total.
Even if they are only 65% and there is a secret ingredient amounting to 10%
it seems that we can day that WD-40 contains a petroleum base and some sort
of solvent and no mention is made of silicone. Just wait till I see that DOE
(Department of Energy) expert again.
Thanks to everyone who responded and helped me get a better idea of WD-40
composition and uses -- I have made a careful note about its use as an
emergency charcoal starter and as a wasp killer -- two critical around the
house matters.
