I've been saying this for years.  It is a Win-Win!
Use a pier pin or a roof top base for guyed towers.  Less expensive and
easier to handle.
And, you can always change towers types without being tied to the tower
section size buried in the cement.

Why do  people insist on putting the first section in concrete? If you read
the K7NV  analysis of guyed towers it is far better to use a pier pin base. 
Less stress  on the tower and the problem of rust and/or freezing damage to
the tower  disappears. Rohn approved. 
Seems like a win-win to me.
