You can always wrap the mast with aluminum foil and tape
and use it as a vertical antenna.
I recall great success using the $4.00 "Catfish Special",
a 2 element yagi for 15 meters from 1956 or so, with bamboo
elements wrapped in aluminum foil, held in place with strips
of electrical tape every couple of feet, with the elements
mounted on a 1x2 support with TV Standoff Insulators, and
a 2x4 for a boom.
